Hi
I just started to play with this +500 Stock Trading client, this is my first time i have ever gone into these realms so i am a complete newbie when it comes to trading.

I know basic things, i understand how to buy and sell, and have read a couple of guides for beginners.
I started playing with "demo" money but that got boring as it meant nothing to me, and i dont have BIG capital to lay down, im just a student who would like to make some extra money on the side using my loan to do that.
Starting with £20 i have doubled up this week, trading crude oil whilst in lectures/at work.

I would just like to know any GOOD free websites to investigate, and good forums for traders where people talk forecasts, tips, etc etc. (im not sure if these forums exist but im guessing they do).
At the moment i am particularly interested in day trading, in commodities, but i would like to play with the currency forex more but ive only seemed to lose money here.

Much appreciated!

Here are a couple of sites I know that’s good for speculation and daytrading besides yahoo finance:

http://fool.com

http://www.siliconinvestor.com/

I think Day trading is usually stressful, I’d much rather do Swing Trading – time frame is usually 1 week to 3 months. while holding multiple positions for diviersification and spreading out the risks of course. I tried so many of them over the years, these two I find are the most accurate when comes to prediction:

I am trying to get my head around how to organize myself. Right now I have about 100 quality stocks within my price range of $20-40 that I rotate through. I don’t really consider beta, or volatility. Maybe I should put the beta ratio next to my 100 stocks. Or maybe I should have a separate list entirely just for beta ratios?

I mean how could you possibly be trading stocks if you don’t consider how violitale they are? Let’s say your stock gains 30% over night if it’s not volatile how do you expect to sell it ? So yes it is a huge factor when it comes to stocks because without it you will have a hard time buying and selling

I will use technical anaylsis to frame my trades, I just want some opinions. I would also like answers from people with this kind of experience.

Trading in volatile markets are the BEST way to make money in the markets. Mainly, because that is when the markets trends best. With more traders reacting to the market, which causes the volatility, it makes highly probable trading situations to play out exactly how we expect them to. For example, lets say we are long on a trade. If we see an bullish ascending triangle, with large volatility and with other aspects of proper technical analysis, we can suspect that pattern that this pattern is likely to play out in our favor. Therefore, we can plan a proper entry and possible profit from the position.

What are Key factors to consider when investing in stock market. I am looking to invest in smaller companies with smaller stock prices. I am also looking to invest short term and long term. What are key factors to consider when investing short term and long term. Such as, P/E ratio, dividend yield %, profit etc…

Investing is about investing in businesses, yes the various ratios tells you something about the business but as an average of say temperature over a week is less indicative of overall average then one of the entire year, these "key factors" are less accurate and less indicative of the business as the businesses gets smaller. Smaller businesses are difficult enough to research and the data is of course less reliable as the business are smaller. Many brokers will deal with fractional shares, a small price on the share is not an advantage. Knowing the business is an advantage so you’re looking in the wrong places for an investment.

Being a penny stock isn’t a detractor from making a business a good investment but penny stocks are not where you go to find good investments, there are fewer there and it’s harder to determine who they are. Small stocks at small prices are not for beginners and experts find easier pickings else wheres.
